Veuve Clicquot's Club Solaire Changed My Mind About Venice Beach
When I heard that Veuve Clicquot was planning an activation in Venice, I couldn't believe it. Venice Beach was always a casual, kind of sketchy destination for locals looking for a spicy beach moment, but after 2020, I feel like it was never mentioned again. So I thought to myself, "Why would a heritage champagne brand invest in bringing its high-profile guests and precious yellow stripes to Venice?" Well, the Club Solaire experience answered my question, in spades. Veuve Clicquot transformed a three-story house and its accompanying boardwalk into a sun-soaked jewel box in the midst of Venice Beach's skate bowls, surf shops, and tattoo parlors.
Veuve's signature yellow stripe brought both joy and luxury to every inch of the house, beach, and surrounding boardwalk. Thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces, bathtubs filled with bottles of champagne, and Veuve Clicquot umbrellas dotted across the sand gave guests numerous scenes to photograph. The brand also hosted a jewelry-making session with Ashley Moubayed of Don't Let Disco, a multi-course meal by Jordan Kahn, and a branded pop-up shop on the boardwalk (complete with Veuve Clicquot beach cruisers). But most importantly, of course, it provided endless champagne, allowing guests to indulge in the Brut Yellow Label, Brut Rosé, and two variations of its newer cuvée, "RICH."
Club Solaire was a reminder of what Veuve does so well: events that feel transporting, decadent, and perfectly hedonistic. For a few hours, you forget about everything outside the event, and you are allowed to indulge in "more," with the answer always being "yes."
